Children

Children’s programming will be a hallmark of the Wynne Home Arts Center through education, exhibits, and opportunities for self-expression.

1.       Art instruction classes in upstairs classrooms: painting, sculpting, weaving, drawing, origami, and more

2.       Dance and creative dramatics on grounds and in classroom

3.       Children’s art exhibits including masks, piņatas, paintings, graphic designs, paper mache, tie-dye, and other

4.       Free workshops and special events for creating art including ceramics, video, and photography

5.       Folkdance, tap, creative dance lessons and performances of dance

6.       Free computer access for digital art and educational research

7.       Cooperative programs with HISD for arts education

8.       Training in vocal and instrumental music: guitar, horn, piano, other

9.       Birthday parties, picnics, holiday celebrations

 

Seniors and Adults

All adults from our diverse community will have opportunities to learn, interact and participate in the ongoing activities of the Wynne Home Arts Center. 

1.       Gallery with regular daily hours for viewing art and heritage exhibits

2.       Classes in watercolor, music, sculpting, quilting, cooking and more

3.       Opportunity for local artists to exhibit their work, demonstrate skills

4.       Space for reunions, weddings and receptions, gospel singing, festivals

5.       Opportunities for storytellers, tour guides and other volunteers

6.       Space for informal gatherings, speakers on arts and heritage

7.       Studio space for local artists; daytrips from Huntsville and outreach programs

8.       Gift shop featuring art of local artists

 

Local Organizations

The Wynne Home will provide much-needed meeting and event space to local organizations, which will benefit from the flexible and versatile center.

1.       Four rooms for regularly-occurring or special meetings

2.       Meeting/conference space for groups of up to 50

3.       Special event seating on the grounds for more than 300

4.       Kitchen facility for catered events, luncheons and receptions

 

Visitors to Huntsville

Partnering with museums, tourist centers and other sites of interest, the Wynne Home will be an important component of local tourism efforts.

1.       Displays highlighting Huntsville’s history, architecture and heritage

2.       Rotating exhibits of well-known local, regional and national artists

3.       Performances by individual musicians and small performing groups
