The Huntsville Public Library will be closed Friday, July 3rd and Saturday, July 4th. We will reopen at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 6th.
Upcoming Children’s Events
The Every Hero Has a Story Summer Reading Program at the Huntsville Public Library is in full swing! If you have not had time to stop by and sign up for the program there is still time to do so. The last day to sign up is Monday, July 27th. The last day to turn in your reading log is Friday, July 31st at 7:00 p.m.
Monday, July 6th, the Sam Houston State Vertebrate Museum will present a Natural History Education program from 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. in the Community Room at the library. This is a come and go event and all ages are welcome.
Delightful Doodlers is a preschool craft program that is held on Mondays at 11:00 at the Huntsville Public Library. The dates for July’s Delightful Doodlers are July 13th, July 20th and July 27th.
Krafty Kids is an elementary school age craft program. Krafty Kids takes place on Fridays at 4:00 p.m. in the Community Room at the library. The dates for July are July 10th, July 17th and July 31st.
Preschool Story Time is every Wednesday at 10:45 a.m. at the Huntsville Public Library. Each week follows a theme with fun stories, songs and crafts. The dates and themes for July are:
July 1st - 4th of July
July 8th - Things That Go Bump in the Night
July 15th - People Around the World
July 22nd - Camping
July 29th - Dinosaurs
The Elementary Book Club is every Thursday in the Children’s Room at the library. Book Club 1 is for ages 5-8 and meets at 2:00 p.m. and will continue reading The Original Adventures of Hank the Cowdog by John Erickson. Book Club 2 is for ages 9-12 and meets at 2:45 p.m. They will continue reading The Princess and the Goblin by George MacDonald.
Join us for a special Super Hero Craft time on Tuesday, July 7th and Friday, July 24th at 3:30 p.m. in the library’s Community Room. We will be making super hero shields on July 7th and on July 24th; you can design your own super hero. This program is appropriate for all ages.
Friday, July 10th will be our Family Movie Night. The movie is sponsored by The Texas Children’s Health Plan program. All movies are rated G or PG. Complimentary drinks and popcorn will be served.
We invite children of all ages to the library on Tuesday, July 14th at 2:00 p.m. for an afternoon of humor and whimsy where you can meet and interact with Ranger Daisy and Old Time Raccoon as they present the, ‘Old Timer Raccoon Story Time’. This program will last approximately 30-45 minutes. ‘Old Timer Raccoon Story Time’ is generously sponsored by the Helen Wheat Fund.
Friday, July 17th, Officer Jenkins from the Huntsville Police Department will have a Children’s Safety program at the library at 2:00 p.m. Office Jenkins has many fun things planned so make sure this program is on your calendar! All ages are invited to attend.
The Texas A&M Chemistry Road Show will be at the Huntsville Public Library on Tuesday, July 21st at 2:30 p.m. The Chemistry Road Show is a public service program that entertains and educates students using chemistry. This program is geared for ages 8 and older, but younger children may also attend.
The Lego Club is for ages 5-12 and meets the third Tuesday of every month at the Huntsville Public Library. July’s club date is Tuesday, July 21st at 5:00 p.m.
Thursday, July 23rd at 10:45 a.m., Dr. Casey Frazier’s Pediatric Dentist office will present a special ‘Tooth Fairy’ Story Time at the Huntsville Public Library.
