First Friday Book Club

April - Fortunately the Milk by Neil Gaiman

Have you ever heard a tale so far-fetched that there was no earthly way it was true?  In Neil Gaiman’s comical whopper of a story Fortunately the Milk, a father explains to his children exactly why it took him so long to return from shopping. May - The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster

June - My Side of the Mountain by Jean Craighead George

Have you ever wanted to leave the city and live off the land entirely? In Jean Craighead George’s book My Side of the Mountain Sam Gribley leaves his family to live in a tree, forage for food, and tough it out in a forest. The First Friday Book Club will be discussing My Side of the Mountain at 1 p.m. Friday, June 1 at the Huntsville Public Library. July - How to Steal a Dog by Barbara O'Connor

“Sometimes the trail you leave behind you is more important than the path ahead of you.” Barbara O’Connor’s novel How to Steal a Dog discusses doing the wrong thing for the right reasons and the struggle one family faces during adversity.
