Huntsville Public Library strives to provide educational, culturally-enriching, and entertaining materials and activities for all ages. Please view the list of our current programs as well as other related information.  

Summer 2019 Theater

Do people ever describe you as “dramatic?”  Are you a teenager looking for a summer activity? Join the Huntsville Teen Theater group for their summer production of “The Importance of Being Earnest” by Oscar Wilde. Auditions for teens ages 12 - 18 years old will be held at 4:30 p.m. Monday, June 3. This program is directed by Huntsville teacher Ian McPhail. Rehearsals will be held on Mondays and Thursdays at 4:30 p.m. in June and July. Community performance information will be announced. Summer Reading Program

The Huntsville Public Library welcomes you to “A Universe of Stories!” at this year’s Summer Reading Program held from Saturday, June 1 through Friday, July 12. Come to the Kick-off Party from 1 to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 1. The last official day to turn in your reading log is Friday, July 19. For every three books read or for every library program attended, participants will receive a raffle ticket. Participants can use that raffle ticket to enter for a chance to win a raffle prize. Those who read at least three books will win a guaranteed prize while supplies last. To participate in this all-ages program, Click here for sign up or sign up in the library. Texas Poison Center Network Presentation 

The Texas Poison Center Network will be at the Huntsville Public Library at 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 20 for an informative presentation on the venomous snakes of Texas. This preschool and elementary school-age presentation will discuss ways to stay safe from snakes as well as tips to avoid ingesting household products that may look appetizing.  Teen Film Club

Teens, did you miss a movie in theater?  Are you hungry for pizza?  Come to the Teen Film Club at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 11 in the Staggs Community Room to enjoy a PG-13 remake of a movie about teens with superpowers who save the world. Pizza will be provided, but teens are encouraged to bring their own drink in a spill-proof container.  Participants must be between the ages of 13 and 18.
